Subject: Community Gardens

Dear Community Gardeners and Supporters

You received an email notification  on 30 October, that the community gardeners would be presented to the Council on Monday 2 November.

We wish to let you know that while the Council has always supported establishing community gardens in Pittwater, they formally  adopted Woolcott Reserve for use as a community garden at the meeting. Thank you to Sam for representing the group at the Council meeting.

The Woolcott group need funds for soil and materials.  They have organised a cake stall at Bunnings Belrose on 28 November.

Council has put aside compost bins, a worm form and a little boat for the garden.  The group wish to fill the boat with herbs to share with the local residents, but they need to soil before the boat can be delivered.  Also the group is ready to start digging the first garden beds.  When funds allow raised garden beds will be built

If anyone wishes to bake for the stall, and participate in preparing the first plots, please let Sam or Alison know, if you don’t have their contact details, I can redirect you.

The community garden in Woolcott Street is important for all Pittwater residents.  It will provide social and environmental benefits for the community with the capacity to promote sustainable practices.

Thank you for your support in establishing community gardens on community land in Pittwater.

Kind regards,

Jenny Cronan
